Bachelor of Teaching
Kia ora
I am in my 15th year of teaching and aim to create a welcoming and safe environment for children to learn and play in my classroom.
I started my teaching career at Forest Lake in Hamilton, then moved onto Cambridge East and Karapiro. During this time I have fulfilled roles such as Mentor Teacher, Team Leader and Senco. Learning is fun, and I think it is magic watching the 'Light bulbs go on'!
I enjoy spending time with my whanau in my spare time. Having grandchildren is the BEST!
My main hobby is being out in the garden, where my creativity shines.
I look forward to meeting you all.

I was teaching in Early Childhood for 14 years in Southland in several positions including travelling around isolated communities providing teaching and learning programmes in people’s homes, community halls and transition to school programmes. I completed my degree in Teaching: Early Childhood then a Diploma in Primary Teaching through Dunedin. I have taught since 2002 in three schools previously to Tatuanui, in Hamilton and Invercargill. I have also completed 2 Post Grads, one in IT and the other TESOL as well as a Diploma in Ministry. In each school I have held positions of responsibility such as leading IT teams, Library development and Team Leader positions. Over the last 15 years I have travelled throughout Asia numerous times supporting the work in orphanages and teaching teachers in remote areas. This has helped me to understand a variety of cultures and extend my teaching skills. I love learning new things and enjoy visiting my young adult son in Invercargill as well as walking my dog. In January 2017 I cycled the Otago Central Rail Trail with my Mum who was 79 at the time. I started teaching at Tatuanui in 2017.

In my seven years of teaching in Early Childhood, I have learnt to notice and recognise every child’s strong points and encourage them to be the best they can be! I have been teaching at Tatuanui School since August 2018. I have completed my Graduate Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESSOL) at WINTEC and I have also completed the training for the Better Start Literacy Approach through the University of Canterbury. I have a passion in Music and Reading. For sports, I am enthusiastic about Badminton and table tennis.

I have been teaching in this area for many years, including relief teaching for the past two- here at Tatuanui school. The teaching staff are very supportive and the children are a delight to teach. I also have experience in early childhood education, so embrace a holistic approach to education. I enjoy spending free time with family on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula, where I grew up. I am passionate about music and nature. I am looking forward to the year ahead in Kiwi.
